Speaker's
Bio: Mark S.
Beasley is the Director of the Enterprise Risk Management Initiative
and a Professor in the Department of Accounting
at North Carolina State University where he teaches auditing
courses in the undergraduate and masters programs. He currently
is serving
as a member of the board for the Committee of Sponsoring
Organizations of the Treadway Commission (widely known at COSO)
and is Past-President
of the American Accounting Association’s Auditing Section. Mark
has previously served on several national task forces and working
groups, including the Auditing Standards Board SAS No. 99 Fraud Task
Force and the advisory board for The Conference Board’s research
about board of director responsibility for Enterprise Risk Management
(ERM). He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences
on ERM, internal controls, and corporate governance, including audit
committee practices. He is the co-author of auditing-related textbooks,
casebooks, and CPE training materials. Prior to beginning his career
at NC State, Mark served as a Technical Manager in the Audit and Attest
Division of the AICPA and as an Audit Manager in the Nashville, Tennessee
office of Ernst & Young. He received a BS in accounting from Auburn
University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
